“Goodbye Austria”, farewell part I …

… or: saying goodbye to Austria’s mountains

Now, it’s already less than one month left to leave to Växjö. Although I am really excited about going there and looking forward to a new country, new university, new lifestyle etc I am slightly saying goodbye to Austria, ‘cause I know I’ll miss the mountains and the nice lakes.

So the “farewell part I” story is about saying goodbye to the mountains – to the mountains close to my home in Carinthia, the Saualpe and Koralpe. Although I broke my finger two weeks ago, I decided today to go to the Klippitztörl to visit the “Sommerrodelbahn” and enjoy the sun, the beautiful view all over the Lavanttal and the incredible calm and quiet lake at the top of the Klippitztörl, … and on purpose … not having a closer look at all the small rocks which would be really good to do some bouldering, but actually only with a non-broken middle finger.

The Klippitztörl claims to have Carinthia’s best and most exciting “Sommerrodelbahn” – and I think they really have. It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s f***ing awesome. The start of the track is located at the top of the mountain at about 1800 meters above sea level. The track itself crosses down its way through the forest, now green skiing slopes. One is faced with some high-speed sectors, curvy parts (like double S curves), and pretty steep parts.

Here are some pictures of all that stuff.

So far,
